Frankie Nunes, 2nd Annual Sport Fishing Tournament

This tournament is in its second year and did not disappoint. The entire day was enjoyed by large crowds who may have come for the fishing, but definitely stayed for the food and drinks. The bar was subsidized and the food stations were carefully chosen to ensure a wide variety and excellent quality. Seafood was the order of the day from fresh sushi to BBQ shrimp-kabobs, to chowders to fresh bakes.

The Les Go captained by Sean MacMillan, caught 174.5 lbs of fish to win the overall catch. Joel Patterson won the largest wahoo at 62 lbs. Best youth was 14 yr-old Donovan Simon who caught a 41.75lbs wahoo. The youngest angler was Team Yamaha's, 4 yr-old Omar Shoul. We had to wait to hand off the trophy, since Omar was busy getting his face painted as spiderman.

A variety of live caribbean music performances entertained attendees. Caribbean helicopters buzzed the event shooting photos from the sky. Boats and crews arrived from Guadeloupe, St. Barts and the UK.

The evening wrapped up shortly after 8pm, as the food ran out. Organizer Philip Shoul deemed the day a total success. There is no doubt, we'll be back for the Nunes 3rd Annual in 2010. To enjoy more photos and get more information on the day, go to the Antigua Barbuda Sport Fishing website.
