Art at the Ridge - Weekly happenings Jan. 12
Art At The Ridge’s first art exhibition of the year will feature exciting paintings by Antiguan artist, Edison Liburd. The exhibition is entitled Expression, Movement & Rhythm and starts with a preview evening on Thursday 26 January 2012, from 6pm to 8pm, at Sugar Club (Sugar Ridge). Thereafter, the artwork will be exhibiting at Art At The Ridge’s shop gallery in Sugar Ridge Village.
Edison Liburd trained in art at various institutions in the US, including the Atlantic Union College (Massachusetts), Pratt Institute of Technology and the Art Students’ League (both New York) and Oakwood University (Alabama). His work captures the vibrant energy and moods of Caribbean life. Edison works in various mediums but prefers watercolours. His style is very fluid and reflects the uninhibited freedom he enjoys as an artist. Edison uses nature, people and music as the main themes in his artwork. This exhibition will highlight a new era in Edison’s work, while his signature forms and style continue to shine through.
Other art exhibitions in Antigua right now include Catherine Nation’s ‘Watercolours on Cotton’ exhibition at Abracadabra Restaurant in English Harbour, Anna Boulton’s ‘Between Land and Sea’ exhibition at Harmony Hall, and Jumby Bay’s Juried Art Exhibition (by appointment only) featuring 300 pieces of art by Antiguan artists.
