Joseph Jones exhibiting at Art at the Ridge
As we come close to the end of high season, there will be fewer opportunities for art exhibitions on the island, unfortunately. The Jumby Bay Art Show will end next month, while Harmony Hall and its art gallery will also close in May.
Nevertheless, there are still some venues on island that continue to exhibit artwork throughout the year, including some of the restaurants. This month, Abracadabra Restaurant will be exhibiting artwork by Denise Martin, from 12 April to 12 May.
There is the Antigua Sailing Week Marine Art & Photography Exhibition, in conjunction with Art At The Ridge, on Sunday 29 April from 2.30pm to 10.00 at The Copper & Lumber Store Hotel. This exhibition will then be brought over to the west of the island to Sugar Club on Wednesday 2 May, from 6.00pm to 8.00pm. Thereafter the artwork will be exhibiting at Art At The Ridge’s shop gallery at Sugar Ridge Village.
Exhibiting artists at the Antigua Sailing Week exhibition will include Jan Farara, David Cadogan, Jane Seagull, Katie McConnachie, Gilly Gobinet, Denise Martin, Anna Boulton, Naydene Gonnella and Marie Kinsella. Photographers will include Alexis Andrews, Joseph Jones, Ted Martin, Jason Pickering, Shelly Chadburn, Kevin Johnson, Lucy Tulloch and Roddy Grimes-Graeme.
Art At The Ridge’s next art exhibition will feature work by Alex Ireland, from Santo Domingo and of Antiguan parentage. The preview evening will be at Sugar Club on Friday 18 May, from 6.00pm to 8.00pm. Art At The Ridge will be holding further art exhibitions throughout the low season so watch this space!
New to Art At The Ridge this week
Fine art photography prints and cards by renowned Antiguan photographer Joseph Jones. Joseph’s work is compelling, eloquent and unique. His interest in photography started with a desire to capture his growing children’s development on film. Joseph’s interests and vision has widened to include the people, places and events that make Antigua special. His work is published regularly and he has provided magazine cover art for European CEO and World Finance. Joseph received commendation for his work with the Stanford 2020 Cricket tournament. He staged a solo exhibition of landscape photography to commemorate Antigua’s 21st Anniversary of Independence - many of these prints grace homes and offices in Antigua.
