Are You Ready for the Tinman?
Hey, put down that fruitcake! Don't overindulge over the Christmas and New Year holidays because a few weeks later you may regret it.
That is, if you've registered for the Tinman on January 29th, 2012. Organized for the first time ever by the Wadadli Triathlon Club, the The Wadadli Tinman competition promises to be the definitive answer to the question: "Who is Antigua and Barbuda's best athlete?".
You may be familiar with the classically gruelling Ironman events where ridiculously fit athletes race over two miles in the swim, 110+ miles on a bike, and then tack on a full-on marathon (that's 26 miles for you couch potatoes) just for the heck of it. The Tinman is only half that length, but no less the mental and physical committment of the parent event.
For those interested in getting involved but may be a little intimidated by the first Tinman ever in Antigua and Barbuda, there are are other opportunities to shine athletically, especially during the Sandman, which is geared more to teams. There's prizes or the overall winners, but also for individual accomplishments in different race segments.
So get ready, get fit, and get your game on. It's all about the bragging rights at 11AM, January 29th, on Dickenson Bay.
