CPTSA youth sports update
FOOTBALL
Wings Youth Footballers went down to Soccer Academy in a friendly on Thursday, July 29th. Despite some great opportunities, Wings came back from a Soccer Academy 3-0 lead at the half, to finish the match 3-2. Shaquan Williams and Samory were excellent on the field and Greg and Ghere Coates continue to show improvement.
The Wings Youth Footballers are preparing to participate in an Invitational Youth Football Tournament in Tortola, BVI, August 14–16th, 2010.
Meanwhile, the CPTSA Wings Sports Club is looking forward to the hosting of the 9th Annual Female Football Tournament, October 2-10th, 2010. The tournament is expected to be played at the new ABFA grounds on the Sir Sidney Walling Hwy.
TRACK & FIELD
Wings Orlando Thomas secured a bronze medal in the 200m under-13 boys, at the Caribbean Union of Teachers (CUT) Games in St. Kitts, while Meuset Jeffers missed out of medalling in the Girls U-15, 400m, finishing fourth.
Both athletes were part of a 29-member contingent representing Antigua/Barbuda at the CUT Games, July 23 & 24, 2010.
Meanwhile, Wings Tahir Walsh and Jalil Salmon are in training to represent Antigua/Barbuda at the First Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore, August 14–26th, 2010. Only athletes ages 14 -18 years may participate.
Walsh will take his chances in the 100m, while Salmon will participate in the 400m. The athletes will be accompanied by Wings Head Coach, Everton (Mano) Cornelius.
The CPTSA Wings Sports Club wishes the athletes all the best as they represent Antigua and Barbuda.
BASKETBALL
All female basketball teams, local, regional and international expecting to participate in the 11th Annual Gillian Brazier Basketball Shoot-Out, scheduled for November 14–21th, are reminded to inform the CPTSA of their intentions, as soon as possible.
