Super Nova & Pioneers capture Easter Monday Relay
For the second and the fourth consecutive years, Super Nova and Pioneers Athletic Club, respectively, have won the Easter Monday 4 X 1 Mile Road Relay.
The team of George Hyppolite, Javvae Hyppolite, Ezra Colbourne and Jamille Nelson sped across the finish line in a time of 19:39.73 to take the Male Overall Title as well as the Male U-35 category.
Pioneers, consisting of Tenijah Morris, Cassie Vitalis, Celicia Maloney and Janill Williams finished in 25:06.67 to take the U-35 Female category and the Overall Female prize.
Some twenty-two (22) teams participated in the 4 X 1 Mile Relay, while 17 individual runners male and female ran the entire 4 miles course.
Veteran athlete, NKosi Barnes finished in 30:15.48 as the first Male individual athlete. Micah Challenger was second and John Li, finished in third place.
In the Female Individual Category, Kevinia Francis finished the course for First Place honours in 29:31, while Linsey Duffy was second and Kim Mallon finished third.
Francine Shaw, a member of the Roots Athletic Club finished the 3 miles Walk Section ahead of her female competitors in 54:39. Dawn Soleyn of the First Caribbean Int’l Bank was second and Malverie Edwards of CBH finished third.
In the Male Walk Category, Tejah Edwards of CBH finished in First Place, Vinceroy Thompson was second and Romaine Potter of First Caribbean In’tl Bank was third.
At least 30 males and females contested the 3 Mile Walk Route. The Easter Monday Road Relay & Fitness Walk was sponsored by the Antigua Computer Technology Company Ltd. (ACT) and has been for more than 15 years.
