White Fete arrived, and it was good...
For ten years, Party Flavours has titillated us with amazing events; adding that well needed touch of elegance and glamour to our pre Carnival festivities! But even for the avid "White Feter" the idea of such a symbolic 10 year anniversary party had us all one our toes!
So, the first "big-up" to the crew is the venue. Driving down the “promenade” that lead to the Sandpiper Hotel, I got the feeling I was making a royal entrance with the abundance of white flag banners fluttering in the wind, singing a welcoming tune!
Once parked, we were very courteously greeted by an usher and asked if we would prefer to wait for a shuttle! Very nice touch, even though it literally took a minute to walk from the parking lot! So, I opted to walk, feeling like Alice in wonderland going down the yellow brick road!
At the entrance to the building we were met by an entourage of beautiful women in sexy, little white dresses offering a warm welcoming "good evening, would you like a jello shot?" Again, I opted out of this one, knowing there was something even better waiting inside for me! There it was. At the end of the amazingly decorated lobby with plush white curtains everywhere: the champagne bar!
What a façade! The excitement; the chatter of the people, partiers and staff alike, caught on fast! I noticed everyone seemed to float around graciously, with a sensibility that would come naturally in a room decorated like a Grecian palace! It was gorgeous: comfy low lounge seating, tall, lit garland trees, and of course — more beautifully draped white fabric!
The air was infectious. Even on the outside — as well as on the dance floor — there was an unspoken language, like everyone was given some magical elixir causing their bodies to move in unison... And the Djs — perched high on the balcony above the crowd — were the spell masters! They were "livewires", knowing exactly the right songs, the right tempo, and the right thing to say to build the vibe!
From the Balcony I saw a constantly moving mass of cumulonimbus clouds and a perfectly laid out venue. I caught glimpse of the hundreds of unique and equally fabulous outfits of both men and women. But I must say the little white dresses dominated!
Making my rounds through the crush of happy people, I decided to check it all out to get my bearings set before settling in! There were bars everywhere! The main bar with a standard variety, there was gorgeous Chivas Regal bar a shot bar, a Red Bull bar and Heineken Bar. Then I saw it: the white, frosted glow from within; very enticing!
I made my way over, entered and I was sold. The walk-in refrigerator was home to the Absolut Bar, complete with a pair of diligent and friendly mixmasters! This would be my permanent residence for the night: below the Djs, to the front right of the stage and slightly elevated above the rest of the crowd.
It was here I had full view of Drastic’s electric performance which sent most women into a screaming, jumping frenzy. And of course, the Queen of the White Fete herself, Tizzy! She never ceases to amaze me with her sexy, creative outfits, amazing voice, dominating stage presence and perfectly choreographed dancers! The crowd followed her every move and obeyed her every command whether it was to jump, wave or misbehave!
...And the night only got better from there! A constant and steady rise! Best of all, not a single drop of rain. The only thing that rained on us was clouds of white confetti blowing in the air; each burst created more excitement, than the last.
My cheer for the White Fete, my shout, my claim, my celebration... I say this: ALL "HAIL" THE CARIBBEAN SNOWSTORM!
