Hamilton's Wine Bar & Bistro: a fresh act in the dockyard
Nelson's Dockyard has been needing a fresh act to add a little life to the park and it looks like the Lord has found it with the opening of Hamilton's Wine Bar & Bistro.
Located on the 2nd floor of an historic building, overlooking English Harbour, Hamilton's Wine Bar & Bistro was packed with fellow restauranteurs, Antiguan locals, yachties, foodies and friends. The setting of centuries-old exposed brick infused with a plum and white interior presents Hamilton's as a sophisticated-yet-accessible destination to enjoy lunch, dinner, wine and cocktails.
Artist Naydene Gonella was on-hand and pleased to showcase her work on the walls of the bistro, punctuating the room with colour and her unique style of art.
"Wine" is right in Hamilton's name and they do not disappoint. With over 40 wines and champagnes, it has something for everyone's palette. While it appears Hamilton's is looking for a bit of an upscale crowd, manager Emma Downey assures that there's nothing pretentious with the efforts in the kitchen. The bistro's mandate is to keep it fresh, simple, tasty and available... And judging by the artful and appealing hors d'ouvres circulating during the opening, they've got it just right.
Hamilton's Wine Bar & Bistro is intimate; inviting patrons to mingle and socialize. With that in mind, the management has already scheduled the Wadadli Riders for a Surfin' Sunday, Urban Hustle during the Antigua Yacht Show and The Purist on the decks spinning a laid back set for Sunday lunches.
The season is just kicking off in Antigua and Hamilton's Wine Bar & Bistro is working hard to make their first season a success. If the opening night is any indicator, this bistro will become a fixture for both visitors and discriminating Antiguan residents, alike.
