We arrived at Carmichael's Restaurant after picking up our friends from the airport. "Where are we headed?" was the question offered by our jetlagged and very excited Canadian guests.

"We have a place for you to check out — to start your Antiguan vacation — that you will love", was my response. This was our second visit to Carmichael's but admittedly our first visit was very brief at New Year's Eve (see gallery).

Carmichael's did not disappoint. Not only was the late lunch we ordered - delicious, we were all wowed at how fantastic Carmichael's is put together. The hardwood throughout, both belongs yet contrasts against the eye-popping green of the lush hills that are the backdrop to the restaurant. Every detail has been considered with furniture, table settings, light fixtures; right down to the napkins. DJ Torsten was laying down very deep house grooves which complimented the entire vibe. Local friends popped in to enjoy a summer drink and others made the most of the swimming pool.

The food is equally beautiful with as much care given to the presentation as to the tastebud sensations.
