For Desiree Marshall, designer and owner of Afrodelik Designs, the soul isn’t something that should be hidden from the world.  The soul and freedom of expression within deserves to shine through.  Desiree began Afrodelik Designs over five years ago, with a desire to show the world her creativity.  Today, the brand has evolved into an apparel line that is both daring and bold. Each piece of clothing features hand-drawn original art celebrating culture, soul and funk.

Originally known for its dynamic and eye-catching t-shirts, the line that Afrodelik Designs offers today has vastly expanded to include curve-flattering dresses, textured bowties, beautiful bags, expressive wooden jewelry, and more.  The pieces feature a full range of images, drawing inspiration from the essence of African culture, to the funkiness of the 70s Blaxploitation era, to musical muses, including Billie Holiday, Michael Jackson, Nina Simone and one of the line’s most popular tshirts, Jimi Hendrix.

Added to the line for 2012 is a daring one-shoulder Funky Bamboo Dress featuring the unique and eye-catching screen-printed designs, which the brand is known for. “With the Bamboo One-Shoulder piece, I wanted to challenge myself and do something I’d never done before - design a dress”, says Desiree. “I created a dress that included the elements that are Afrodelik: Colorful, Simple & Bold, and a dress that would make all women of different shapes and cultures, feel beautiful.

Desiree has gotten the world funkdafied, gaining a following, and some celebrity ambassadors along the way. Celebs, including music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, actors Boris Kodjoe and Kim Coles, singers Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Ledisi and producer Young Pete Alexander have their own piece of apparel from Afrodelik Designs.  Sherri Shepherd, co-host of THE VIEW, recently turned heads when she wore an Afrodelik shirt on an episode of the Emmy-Award winning talk show.  (Ed. note - Sheri wore yet another T-shirt on today's show!)
