Teens take it to the street
It’s Talented Teen top model style, and this year the teens are bringing it and bringing it hard.
A few weeks ago, 12 young representatives took to the street in a "stomp off" as they wore their threads proudly. And as the ladies stomped hard that day, the fellars brought the swagger full throttle.
Decked in gear by 2010 Teen Splash sponsor The Source, the contestants introduced themselves before supporters and curious onlookers who were dazzled and amused, and who fully rallied behind the contestants.
Participating in this year’s Teen Splash will be Larissa Grigg of the Clare Hall Secondary School; Cesaire Hampson of the Antigua Grammar School; Abi McCoy of the Antigua Girls High School; Linton Burton of St. Joseph’s Academy; Ross Victor and Trevorlyn Shepherd of the Ottos Comprehensive School; Sherilee Ducreay of the Pares Secondary School; Tarique Zachariah of the St. Anthony’s Secondary School; Raynel Carroll of the All Saints Secondary School; Jevon Henry and Ariel Henry of the Jennings Secondary School; and Gina Davis of the Princess Margaret School.
Also present at the launch were two well-known personalities in the entertainment arena, though new to the soca arena. Eldean “De Anchor” Eudel and Trevaughn “Lyrics Man” Weston were present as part of the line-up for the launch. At the time of the launch, the 12th contestant was yet to be determined, but then contestants of the Christ the King High School Queen of the Form used the forum to promote their pageant and themselves. Caroline Michael proved to be the Queen of her forms and will represent her school in the Teen Splash competition.
Twelve contestants; 11 schools; 1 winner. Given the swag, the popping divas and the undeniable talent this year’s Teen Splash is already bursting with style and promises to be one of the most outstanding and competitive years. In fact, over the last four years the Teen Splash has certainly served in being the number one pageant for the Carnival season as the teens bring it, and bring it hard.
In an effort to make their presence unforgettable this year’s Teen Splash committee is keeping the contestants in the public’s eye with promotional visits and activities, including a fundraising can drive which took place at the First Choice Supermarket.
