Barbuda's not just for tourists
This February, the EAG is sponsoring a field trip that will take you across the seas, but not too far! Get ready to spend the day, in picturesque Barbuda.
The tour to Antigua's sister island will take place on Saturday, February 18, 2012, departing on the Barbuda Express ferry from the New Fisheries Complex, Point Wharf, St. John’s at the bottom of North Street.
Activities include a short ride to the Codrington Lagoon to meet the boats that will take everyone to the Frigate Bird Sanctuary. After the sanctuary, the group will return to Codrington for a land-based tour, including caves used by Arawak Indians, and the ruins of the historical Codrington family home, before returning to the beach. This allows for some time to relax, swim or snorkel until returning back to the ferry headed to Antigua.
Everyone is asked to bring their own lunch and drinks, including water, as there are no complimentary refreshments offered as part of this tour. If anyone is prone to sea sickness, please procure medication at a local pharmacy and remember to take them before boarding.
The cost of the trip is EC$280 per person. A 50% deposit of EC$140 is required at the EAG office by February 8, 2012. Check-in time is 8:30am for the 90 min. trip to Barbuda. The recommended minimum age is 12 years. There are only 30 seats available so please book early if you are interested.
The EAG is looking forward to this exciting trip. For more info, contact the EAG.
