Christian Valley Birding Trail Project officially opens
We are cordially inviting you to the official opening of the Christian Valley Birding Trail on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at 2pm, at the Christian Valley Agricultural Station.
The Christian Valley Birding Trail Project, funded by the Finnish Government through its embassy formerly based in Venezuela, is a collaborative effort with the Environmental Awareness Group to promote birding as an eco-friendly activity for tourism here in Antigua.
The project in May 2011 by reaching out to the surrounding communities. The aim of these meetings was to introduce the project to the communities who would be in the best physical positions to promote the use of the trail, to provide opportunities for budding entrepreneurs and to enjoy the trail itself.
Trail work began in June and, with the help of many individuals, the arduous task of clearing the paths began. The two-and-a-half mile trail we are opening now is the first of what we hope will become only a part of the Antigua & Barbuda Birding Trail Network.
Many people and organizations within Antigua have also contributed to the successes of this project and have helped us promote birding activities here in the state so the time has come for us to share and to celebrate these achievements!
We look forward to seeing you there!
