Ping! Blackberry mania has one holdout
Ping!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes you guessed it; it is that annoying sound associated with the most annoying phone ever created, the Blackberry. I hate Blackberries, I really do, I totally dislike the gadget and I see no need for everyone and their mother to own one. Every time I hear that signature sound ‘PING!’ I instantly get angry. My friends who are all Blackberry owners have branded me a ‘hater’, an obnoxious young lady who just means to be difficult. What did I say? Thanks for the compliment guys. PING!
My deep-seeded unapologetic anger toward the device comes from the bad habits I have noticed that is signature with Blackberry owners. They have no phone etiquette and their social skills seem to be on a downward spiral. What other reason could there be why they choose the most inopportune time to send messages back and forth. PING!
That’s why I am insistent that I am going to keep up the fight, I refuse to get one. I am not being cheap, just militant. I went to the movies with my closest friends to watch The Hangover, which is probably the funniest movie I will ever see in my life, and was very distracted at the seven blue neon blue lights next to me. It was the lamination from my friends' Blackberries as they texted back and forth. All I could think to myself was if all of us were at the same place, what need do they have to be messaging anyone. PING!
Last year at the Queen of Carnival pageant, I watched as everyone pulled out their Blackberry phones to begin messaging on Facebook about the contestant who fell in the costume segement. I immediately felt insecure sitting in my seat. Where are these people employed, TMZ.com? Why would something as horrible as that need to be publicised within seconds of it happening? PING!
When did it become ok to ‘Ping’ in church? Why does an MC at an event, or even a facilitator at a class or lecture, have to inform grown adults to put their phones on silent? In the club while loud music is blazing away, I see people messaging back and forward on their Blackberry phones. People take pictures wherever they are at and post it quickly on their Facebook or whatever else network website they are a members of. To be fair, some of the pictures are funny, like the one of the donkey that is always tied to the post outside of Abracadabra on the weekend. Whose ride is that anyway? PING!
