Q: Hi Shermain, I have very thick lips and I'm told that I should not wear red lipstick is that true because I LOVE red lipstick! - Erzullie, Antigua
A: That is true, if you have thicker than normal lips than most, then normally it is recommended that you do stay away from the bright colors that will draw too much attention to them. However, if you love your red lipstick like I do here is a simple trick that might work for you. Rule no. 1 when wearing red lipstick always make sure to line the lips with a matching liner. This prevents the lipstick from smearing and running all over your face. This is a must! Trick no 2 is to prevent lining your lips from the exact outline of your lips. Rather, start lining your lips from the inside of the outline of your lips and fill in the lips from there. What you're doing in this case is shaping your lips to look thinner than they really are. Hope this helps!
Q: Read your blog on wearing the right swimsuit for your body type. I have a pudgy stomach since I had my son. Can you recommend the best swimsuit for someone like me? - Sharon, NC
A: Sharon, the best type of swimwear for you is one with tummy control. If you want to hide your tummy stay away from bikinis and opt for tankinis and whole swimsuits that cover your entire torso. It would be best to find one that says tummy control or that has the right stretch and fit to hold your tummy in. Look for something with ruching as well. A swimsuit in black can also hide a lot of problem areas.
Q. I have a problem with buying bottoms especially pants and jeans. I can't seem to find anything that will fit both my hips and waist. Any suggestions? - Kelly, NY
A: Hi Kelly your problem is not uncommon. There are many women out there who have difficulty finding the right fit for their body type. The reality is, that designers and manufacturers follow a standard sizing chart which most people fall into. However the few exceptions like yourself have to find clothing made particularly for your size and shape or have your clothes altered by a trusted tailor. (this may be the best option that way you get to keep the bottoms you already have). Another suggestion is to refrain from shopping online and actually go into stores and try on as many pieces until you find just the right cut and fit for you. If you're plus size, check out these site: www.torrid.com, www.style369.com, www.curvygirlclothing.com. For the regular sized curvy girl try brands like: www.applebottoms.com, www.pzijeans.com.
