Hare & Tortoise Swim in Falmouth Harbour
The 4th Annual Hare & Tortoise Swim is happening this weekend, on Saturday 27th February at 2 p.m. The swim is open to participants 8-80 years with a prize-giving ceremony in 12 categories scheduled for 7:30 p.m. This is a fundraising event but it's steeped in fun, as a new category is added this year, fancy dress. Very special guest Minister of Culture Mr. Eleston Adams will start the swim & present prizes.
The swim is 1260m (just under ¾ mile) starting from Catamaran Marina & finishing at Pigeon Beach and all funds raised are in aid of building a new reading room at Cobbs Cross Primary School.
Cobbs Cross has been in the news recently and not for good reasons. The school was closed for four days last week due to lack of running water. Luckily generous local residents donated a water tank and water, however help is still needed.
Come out and support your local public schools and show off your swimming skills. It's fun for the whole family. For more information email Marilyn Linnington of the Anchorage Inn at marilynlinnington@hotmail.com or www.theanchoragerooms.com.
The Anchorage Inn located just outside Nelson's Dockyard, is the major sponsor of this annual charity event. 'Hares' (16-49) and tortoises (50+) venture out on behalf of a different charity each year.
