Haiti Fundraising Moonlit Golf Tournament
As the moon rises on Saturday, 27th February, golfers at the Jolly Harbour Golf and Country Club will don their glowing necklaces, pick up their glowing golf balls and walk to the first hole to await the 8 p.m shotgun start of this rare event – a moonlit golf tournament. Are they mad you may ask? Well perhaps, but it’s all for a good cause. The Golf Club Committee members have teamed up with the Red Cross to offer a dinner, dance, drinks and golf tournament set to be a (w)hole lot of fun, all to raise money for the Haiti Fund.
One of the key organisers, Gaye Hechme General Manager of Jolly Harbour, says it’s going to be a great night, not least because they have some fine food and chefs on board. Patrick Gaducheau of Le Bistro and Julian Waterer of Chef’s World have come together with chefs from Blue Waters Hotel, Galley Bay, Home Restaurant, The Bay House Restaurant, Hermitage Bay hotel, The Antigua and Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute, Jolly Beach Resort, Mill Reef, Curtain Bluff Hotel, Big Banana and Sugar Ridge Hotel to provide a first class buffet dinner
The golfers have to dine by 8 p.m as that’s when they need to be out on the greens, and while they are busy trying to do the impossible and get a hole in one (in the dark remember), partners, friends and party goers will be eating and drinking up a storm back in the club house. By 10 p.m. the players are back and the prize-giving and auction will take place, with all funds raised both on entry tickets and auction prizes and drinks being given to the Red Cross Haiti Fund - its set to be a phenomenal night. Music by Chickie’s Hi-Fi and Itchyfeet will round off the night and get the place rocking.
Tickets for the dinner are $60US and for golf and dinner $80US and can be purchased from Jolly Harbour Golf and Country Club, the La Perla Sales Office, Chef’s World and Antiguanice.com. There is a donation of $10US on the door, for anyone who wants to join in the party, but not dine or play golf.
Cocktails at 6:00 p.m., Dinner at 7:00 p.m. Tee off at 8:00 p.m. etc.
