Mr. Fete: Blue Jeans "Music was almost perfect"
Saturday marked one decade of the all inclusive event: Blue Jeans. It’s been a great 9 years, lets see how the 10th year stacked up against the rest.
Location
Blue Jeans was located in Splash Antigua, which just happens to be a giant pasture near the beach Fort James. It takes great creativity to transform this place into a Fete location. Blue Jeans put their best foot forward! The stage was pretty big and the dance floor was concrete, rather than just grass. The bars were enormous and easily accessed. I found that the bathrooms were a little out of the way and not close enough to the dance floor or bar, but it wasn’t that big of a deal. Still it did seem like the venue was missing something special,. It was a pretty generic setup, but, hey, that doesn’t mean it was bad.
Location gets a solid 3.5/5
Music
The music at Blue Jeans was quite impressive. From the beginning they played some really old school tunes, and it just progressed. We heard some good Antiguan soca music, and many other genre’s as well.
The party climaxed with Dj Private Ryan, who, if you didn’t know, always brings his A game.
Taxik put on a great performance as well.. Did I mention we were jamming until 6 in the morning?
Music gets an almost perfect 4.5/5 losing half a point for bringing Private Ryan on a tad late.
Vibe
The Vibe at Blue Jeans was a little strange actually. Firstly, there weren’t many people there. However, for those who were there, everyone was around the dancefloor area and there were a very small number of very young looking kids (I did see one person who appeared very young and was having a hard time keeping things down). The party vibe steadily increased as the night went on and everyone congregated to the dancefloor. I did find the bartenders to be a little angry or bored at times. They sometimes seemed reluctant to serve, but they did serve quickly though! Blue Jeans recieves a nice...
3.5/5 for its vibe.
Value
Blue Jeans’ worth is a bit up in the air for me. While it was definitely a great fete, at $125 for a regular ticket and $150 for a VIP ticket, (which includes premium liquor and food) I can honestly say that VIP is definitely worth the price. I think $125 may be a bit steep however, for the regualr price, and it should probably rest at $100 (which was the early bird price)
Actual Price: $125 regular $150 VIP Worth: $100 regular $150 VIP. With that said...
Blue Jeans recieves a 4/5 for value.
Recommend it
I would definitely recommend Blue Jeans to the fete goer. Please make sure you get your tickets early next time to get that special. If not then definitely buy a VIP ticket!
All-in-All
There you have it! Blue Jeans receives a 15.5/20! Not bad I think!
