Jaycees Caribbean Queen Show partners on Climate Change
St John’s, Antigua (15th June 2010) – The climate change focus of the 49th production of the Jaycees Caribbean Queen show, has led them to join forces with the Environmental Awareness Group (EAG) and the Antigua & Barbuda Waste Recycling Corporation (ABWREC).
As plans continue to unfold towards transforming the crowned queen of 2010 into a regional ambassador on climate change for the region, the show’s committee felt that both groups were noting more than a perfect match in seeing this year’s initiative through to success.
The EAG as a leading conservation group in the Caribbean based in Antigua and Barbuda, which is dedicated to saving the unique biodiversity of the region, has sought to offer their experience and expertise on tackling dire environmental issues, in aiding the committee to drive the message of climate change awareness home to the general public. One of the well known successes of the EAG has been with the Antiguan Racer Snake found only on Bird Island in the North Sound area of Antigua & Barbuda - HYPERLINK "http://www.eagantigua.org" www.eagantigua.org.
While ABWREC, a non-profit organization founded by Rotary Antigua Sundown and being Antigua and Barbuda’s first and only recycling plant, that has championed an impressive recycling program among the general public and schools, has extended their wealth of knowledge and support to the committee, in their commitment to preserving and conserving the environment – HYPERLINK "http://www.abwrec.com" www.abwrec.com
The pageant promises to be one not to be forgotten and not to be missed. All are invited to follow the show and to witness its production as delegates from across the Caribbean compete for the coveted crown of Ms Jaycees Caribbean Queen 2010 and the chance to be the first ever prestige Climate Change Ambassador to the region.
