Oh Antigua! at Harmony Hall
Joseph Jones has over the last years become one of the most renowned names in Antiguan photography. His work is both eloquent and compelling and captures the diversity and spirit of Antiguan life and culture as only an 'insider' can.
Joseph's first major exhibition was titled 'Antigua and Barbuda, Where Land and Sea Make Beauty'. It comprised a series of stunning landscape prints and was staged to celebrate Antigua and Barbuda's 21st Anniversary of Independence. The show was well received and pieces from this collection grace many homes and offices in Antigua and as far away as China and South america.
For this showing, titled Oh Antigua and Barbuda, Joseph is joined by his wife and soul mate Janet who, over the last few years, has grown from accomplice to apprentice to her husband and, as one can readily see, a master in her own right.
Oh Antigua & Barbuda celebrates the couples passion for the land and its people and culture. It reaches back nearly two decades to include some of Joseph's earliest works alongside more recent pieces from the couple produced in contemplation of our land and its people.
What is remarkable is the seamless blurring and blending of time and styles throughout the pieces and Joseph and Janet's penchant for making art out of ordinary life.
This collection of fine prints from the works of Joseph and Janet Jones are presented as limited edition mated and mounted prints. Part proceeds from sales from the exhibition will go to the King George the IV Restoration Society which has been established to do community development in the Grays Farm and Green Bay areas.
Oh Antigua! at the Harmony Hall Art Gallery, Browns Bay, Antigua, until Saturday, April 10th.
