"Unbidden", a poem by Nattassa Blakeney
"Like a vine around a tree, we're entwined spirits..."
Unbidden
You come to me…
Unbidden.
Like a summer breeze
That wraps itself around my bare legs.
You seep into my subconscious
Like heat through my pores.
You’re unstoppable, like time…
Like fulfilling a destiny.
You’re a part of me that’s invisible to the naked eye
But you’re there.
In my darkest moments,
You’re the light shining inside of me,
Inside of my thoughts.
In my brightest moments,
You’re the shadow that silently pushes me forward.
There is no escape from you
No matter how hard I try.
You attach yourself to my soul…
Unbidden,
Like a vine around a tree,
We’re entwined spirits,
You’re a part of me.
