One Enchanted Evening: The White Fete is here
Ok, so it rained last year. It rained a lot. And some of you who attended the White Fete expressed, how shall we say…unhappiness about the freak storm with really bad timing. Well, the organisers of "Caribbean Snowstorm" are going all out in making sure that Mother Nature isn't invited to this party.
365antigua.com took a drive up north to see exactly what all the hype was about. Frankly, directions were unnecessary because the massive tent looming above the nearby homes in Crosbies was the tip-off to the location. Bigger than some mansions on the island, it has got to be one of the largest non-permanent structures erected in Antigua and Barbuda. We're talking 13,000 sq. ft. of party space. In fact, think of every outdoor party you've seen and add about 50% of your mind's image to the mix.
Welcome to the club
Imagine walking the catwalk under a decorated awning to the main tent. Yes it's big, but there's going to be about 10 more tents to cover all the extra amenities involved in such a massive undertaking. Did I say massive? Construction started weeks ago and it's going to take 30 days from build to takedown once all is said and done.
Yes, the dance floor is big, but they've even added two huge risers to give the place a total nightclub effect - the perfect place to people watch and scope the scene. The risers will also give you ample space to dance your booty clean off to the sounds of White Fete alumni Tanzania "Tizzy" Sebastian with El-A-Kru, DJ Quixx, XTC (Trinidad), and Baseline sound system.
Yes, there's bathrooms, but it's all taken up a notch or two. Some of them will be air-conditioned and there's separate "powder rooms" and bathroom attendants. And, what a concept, out of the approx. 25 bathrooms, there'll be more girls' than boys'. Ladies, you're covered.
You won't complain about getting VIP treatment and still having to wait for a drink, because there's umpteen bars ready to fill your cup at your command, including shot bars doling out tequila shots, flavoured vodka shots and a few surprise shots just to keep it interesting. "Shot girls" will also be on hand to help keep the drinks flowing which will make it easy to get your hands on the featured drink of the evening, "Chambulls" (champagne and Red Bull), the White Fete's gift to the Antigua party scene. And, to give the place even more of a club feel, the bars will be illuminated, with disco lights and black lights throughout the house to throw that funky glow. Just in case you eventually need some fuel that's not alcohol based, Pita Pocket and Werner Meyer (By Betty's) will be serving up food for sale.
And, as if you needed one more reason to attend the White Fete, there'll be a nice door prize for one lucky ticket holder. Just fill in the bottom part of your ticket and hand in the whole thing at the door or else you can't be entered in the draw. You got to be in it, to win it!
You might wonder how a party of this magnitude can possibly run so smoothly, but don't you worry, it's all taken care of. A cadre of police officers and security guards (around 30) will be there to ensure everyone can relax and keep on doing their thing.
The White Fete is yours for just one incredible night, Saturday, July 3rd. Come early and stay late (9PM-4AM). Make it count at "Caribbean Snowstorm".
Tickets are $150 on sale now at Lolita's (Village Walk), Comnett, Jean-Pierre Shoul 725.8100, Gerard Shoul 720.8324, and Paul Aflak 464.6325. Tickets will not be sold at the door and over 18's only.
