Next up? The Green Fete
The end of a fun-filled summer is approaching quickly and there are only a few more exciting parties to experience. Including the granddaddy of them all - Antigua's Carnival - many of the summer fetes have been soca and calypso themed, but the last big one is going to be all about the reggae.
The best night spot on Antigua, Abracadabra, and The Environmental Awareness Group (EAG) are putting on The Green Fete – A Roots Reggae Party on Friday, August 27th. The event will have two themes running through the night. And, with DJs like Quixx and Kenny Nibbs, you know the reggae theme will run far and deep.
Abracadabra is unique in Antigua as there are two main sections to the club. Out front is a big dance floor and "Disco Bar" where DJ Quixx will be spinning and keeping the dance floor thumping to the best reggae dance tracks found anywhere. In the back is a very cool bar and "Chill Out" dance area where Kenny Nibbs will be mixing his very conscious collection of sounds.
The Green Fete will be a very peaceful dance with the best conscious reggae dance hits of all time. Of course, this wouldn’t be called the Green Fete without an ecological theme. All funds raised by ticket sales will go toward the Environmental Awareness Group which will be used to help manage the organisation and its incredible environmental projects.
Several small displays will be scattered around chilled out areas at Abras where you can learn more about our island’s environment and the work of the EAG. Lovely prizes are available to be won for the "best green" and "best eco-friendly outfits", and more! Watch this space to find out what more is at stake. Remember, all ticket sales go toward this non-profit environmental group, so even if you can’t make it, your contribution will go a long way. For more info please call 462-6236.
