COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS

ABI Bank/JCI Antigua Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) will once again be hosted by JCI Antigua from the period August 26th – November 8th 2010.  The program includes: Essay Writing Competition from August 26th – October 15th 2010; Maritime Day Seminar October 16th 2010; Youth  Symposium  - October 23rd – 9 am to 2 pm; Public and Impromptu Speaking Competition – November 6th 2010;
As a part of our JCI/ABI Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) we are preparing for our 3rd Annual JCI Essay Competition, themed, “writing is a product of silence.” The competition this year will target two age categories, students’ ages 12 to 15 years and 16 to 20 years. Students from government and private secondary schools will be invited as well as sixth form students. Period for submission of essays will be from September 20 to October 15, 2010.

The YEP Program will be launched on Thursday 26th August 2010 at ABI Financial Center.  JCI Antigua (Jaycees) is a non-profit organization affiliated to JCI West Indies and Junior Chamber International and our mission is to contribute to the advancement of the global community, by providing the opportunity for young people to develop their leadership skills, social responsibility, entrepreneurship and fellowship necessary to create positive change.

Your team/club/school is kindly invited to participate in the 11th Annual Gillian Brazier Basketball Shoot-Out for females, November 14 – 21, 2010.
Overseas teams should arrive on island November 13 or the morning of November 14 and depart on November 22, 2010. The CPTSA will provide ground transportation to and from games and is currently seeking to reduce the cost of accommodation, significantly.
All interested teams/clubs/schools should indicate early, their intention to participate, no later than August 30, 2010. The Registration fee of $150.00US plus $25.00US performance bond should reach the CPTSA before October 31, 2010.  Performance bond will be returned
if team does not forfeit any game, and present with at least eight (8) players at Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
There is a late registration fee of $25.00US after October 15, 2010.
