Join in the fun at Nelson’s Dockyard at the Francis Nunes Jr, Sport Fishing Tournament
Stop eating! Stop right now. Save up that appetite...
Cuz this Saturday is the 2nd Annual Francis Nunes Jr., Sport Fishing Tournament. Of course you will enjoy those beautiful boats pulling in with the sunburnt fishermen and women as they share their tales of that big fish who got away... or better still - haul a big one or two or more off their boat for the weigh-in.
But this new annual event is much more than a place for fishing enthusiasts to hang out and down their fave rum punches. Its about the FOOD. A diversed and very select set of food meisters will be on-hand to tickle, tempt and ultimately seduce your tastebuds. I say 'select' because organizers Philip Shoul and his right-hand organizer Alison Sly-Adams of Antiguanice.com took great pains to ensure there was little overlap in menu choices between the quality foodies who will be presenting some of the most delicious dishes available in Antigua. Last year i witnessed Chef Darryn Pitman negotiate with a boat to purchase the most beautiful yellow-fin tuna you ever saw. Within minutes, that fresh tuna was being professionally sliced and prepared in Darryn's brilliant sushi offerings. He's simply a master.
But don't think for a moment there won't be BBQ's a-flamin' with ribs, chicken fish etc. I truly hope I can get another bowl of the fish chowder that caused moans from crowds who refused to look up from their bowls until their chowders were done.
Very reasonably priced cold, wet beverages will be free-flowing 'til late. And be sure to bring clean-faced children. The face painting will be in full motion.
The event starts around 3pm with the boats pulling in for the weigh-in. Food all day and DJs spinning a wide variety of Caribbean, disco, rock and fun dance music late into the night.
There is no cover charge for attendees. 365antigua.com will be there. Be ready to have your photo taken. See ya there.
Enjoy coverage of the day in photos.
