Six Degrees Below Zero to Heat up the Runway

Devika Richards is just one of the models who will be appearing at the Six Degrees Below Zero show.

All style mavens and art observers better clear the 14th of November on their calendar, as the newly formed modelling/talent agency, Six Degrees Below Zero, will be hosting their first fashion show/art exhibition at the Grand Royal Antiguan Beach Resort at Deep Bay.

The show will feature a bevy of beauties signed to the agency, as well as couture fashions by local designers.

Also on display will be body art from highly renowned artist, Clarissa Samuel.
The evening is set to be a gala event with people encouraged to wear black and/or white. Exquisite canapés, champagne and cocktails will be served throughout the evening.

Six Degrees Below Zero aims to reach a broad demographic, hoping to inspire and entertain not only the vibrant youth of the country but older, more established locals and those on the international scene, including members of the American University of Antigua’s (AUA’s) student body.

The art aspect of the show plays into the overall goal of the agency, which counts the promotion of Antigua in the arenas of the arts and fashion, as a source of great motivation.

The agency’s creator, Darryn Pitman, spoke with 365antigua.com recently, stating that there is a wealth of talent in country that is yet to be explored. He hopes that after the initial event in November, more talent will come forth, as they will now be confident in the existence of an agency willing to help showcase their talents.

Although the agency is newly formed, Pitman has already set his sights on hosting fashion shows every eight to ten weeks throughout the year to give as many young and aspiring designers and models a chance to be seen, since being “seen” is instrumental to success in the fashion and modelling world.

In the long-term, Pitman hopes that the agency’s efforts will assist in putting Antigua and Barbuda on the map both regionally and internationally, as another viable resource for various types of talents in the arts/fashion industries.
Naturally, the agency will require sponsorship for their events; however, sponsors will also have the option to sponsor a model of their choice for periods ranging from 3 months to a full year, with the benefit of having a trained model under contract for ads, shows and other such avenues of company promotion.

If you are interested in sponsoring or attending the event, contact Darryn Pitman at 464-6523 or e-mail him at darryn@gourmetbasket.biz.
